Cornerstone, Mineola – April 9th
On Holy Thursday evening my daughter and I had the privilege of delivering hot dinners to the nursing staff at Winthrop hospital on behalf of the Society .It was timed so that both shifts could partake. Those just finishing their 12 hour shift could bring dinner home to their families and those heroes walking in the door for the next 12 hour shift to take their place on the front line of this war against Covid19. The food was prepared by Jamie O’Connell co owner of the Cornerstone Pub located across from Chaminade HS in Mineola . I am proud to report that the delivery included family sized trays of shepherd’s pie, After all , we are the Friendly Sons Of St Patrick !! In the words of one of the nurses “ you gentlemen fed half the hospital” .You’ll have to take my word for it that there were big smiles behind those surgical masks! For the record, the nurses took the pictures themselves. I did not enter the building. It makes me proud to be a member of a Society that did this all across the Island.
Slainte’ and good health to all our members and their families.
